Second Call for Papers and Panel Proposals (with extensions):
Beyond Reconstruction:
Social Recovery in Post-Conflict and Post-Disaster Society
THE 4TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ACEH AND INDIAN OCEAN STUDIES
LHOKSEUMAWE, NORTH ACEH, INDONESIA, 9-10 JUNE 2013
The fourth biannual ICAIOS conference will be held on June 9-10, 2013 at the campus of Malikussaleh University (UNIMAL) in the City of Lhokseumawe, North Aceh, Indonesia. The conference will be organized in cooperation with the research project under “Inter-University Partnerships for Strengthening Health Systems in Indonesia: Building New Capacity for Mental Health Care” of Harvard University. The third ICAIOS conference looked at vibrant dynamics of consolidation and transformation processes in post-disaster and post-conflict regions. The fourth conference will explore the dynamics beyond reconstruction by examining “Social Recovery” in broad terms. Unlike physical reconstruction, social recovery takes longer time to shape after a disaster or a conflict. ICAIOS invites abstract(s) submissions and panel proposals to present quality papers from original research that addresses the psycho-socio-cultural dynamics of recovery following major disasters or conflicts.
