About PDS :
The relationship of Aceh Darussalam Sultanate and Ottoman Empire is believed firstly occured in the middle of 16th century. It has happened as respond to European countries particularly Portuguese's domination in Malay straits and Sumatra Island and also caused the escalation of Aceh Darussalam Sultanate's supremacy, especially after Sultan Selim II sent Ottoman military experts to Aceh. Moreover, the relationship was also unique because it should not merely be seen as suzerain-vassal relationship, but it was more to a cooperation of two Islamic states (center-periphery) in order to defeat the same enemy. Hence it became one of the failure causes of Portuguese's domination both in South East Asia and also in Indian Ocean.
