Abstract:
The situation in southern Thailand has gotten since the beginning of 2012. Some observers believe that the current situation in Pattani has entered protracted conflict where the intensity and quality of violence worsens. What is really happening there? Why does the intensity of violence suddenly increase since the beginning of 2012? Get a description of this situation from an independent reporter who lives in the middle of the conflict in southern Thailand.
Speaker Short Bio:
Ruayrin (Nu) Pedsalabkaew has worked on his Master’s degree in South East Asian Studies at Walailak University, Nakorn Si Thammarat since 2010. Before attending the graduate school, Nu served as a reporter and investigation journalist for various media in Thailand , such as Issra News Center, Thai Journalists Association (2005-2006), Prachatai News Bureau (2005), Southern Region Focus Newspaper (2008-2009), Khon Pak Tai Newspaper (2009), Deep South Watch (2011),
